What To Eat When Losing Weight?

Can you lose weight without a specific diet? Of course, you can! If you know what products lead to weight gain, and which on the contrary contribute to weight loss.

Depending on the type of diet, there are “special lists of products” to help effectively lose weight. With that type of resource, it would reduce eating anything additional. However, those list of approved foods are too short and people who want to lose weight always desire more variety.

Therefore, let me offer you a top 10 weight loss foods you must have when losing weight.

Vegetable Salads

Vegetable salads are number one on my list of products through which you can lose weight.

In vegetables, you’ll find loads of fiber, vitamins & minerals and they’re low-calorie! They contribute to speeding up the metabolism and eating fresh vegetables improves the work of the intestines. It goes without saying, foods like sour cream, mayonnaise or any kind of dressing is not recommended. Due to the number of preservatives and it’s sugar content, it makes losing weight much more difficult. But if you drizzle your vegetable salads with unrefined, cold-pressed olive oil, your body will take in greater benefits. The best part you can eat your vegetables any time of the day, even in the late evening because they digest very quickly.

Allowed vegetables: cabbage (white cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, Chinese cabbage), onion, garlic( of any kind), tomato, cucumber, pepper, eggplant; zucchini, pumpkin, carrots, beets, sorrel.

Quince salad recipe: Vegetable salad with quince is suitable for eating during a diet, will be perfectly combined with any garnish, as well as meat dishes.

Ingredients:

1400 oz of white cabbage;

a small quince;

1 stalk of celery,

half a teaspoon of vinegar,

Organic olive oil.

Preparation:

Chop the cabbage on a small grater, mash it to let the juice. Peel the quince, finely chop into strips or grate. Pre-soak celery in boiling water (about 1 minute) to soften the taste. All ingredients are thoroughly mixed, seasoned with oil.

When losing weight, it is very helpful to eat soups with lots of vegetables. They are low in calories, and they perfectly fill the stomach. Fiber and protein are filling nutrients, so choose a soup with ingredients such as vegetables, beans, and lean protein. Any vegetable is suitable to prepare a dietary soup that will help you lose weight. Just don’t base your soup on potatoes, because it’s quite high in calories and a starchy vegetable. Avoid soups with cheese, such as cheddar cheese or broccoli and cheese soup, as well as cream-based soups, such as cream o

f mushroom, cream of tomato or clam chowder.

It is best if you eat a soup at lunchtime, with a lean piece of meat. Losing weight with such a dinner is a pleasure.

Let me introduce one of my favorite vegetable soups – Celery soup! You can eat celery soup as much as you want – no restrictions. For 3 days on celery soup you can lose 4-6 lb, and for a week you can lose up to 9lb. Celery (Bonn) soup for weight loss not only contributes to the breakdown of fats, but also perfectly removes excess fluid from the body, and also contains useful vitamins.

Celery soup recipe: 

  • 7 oz celery root;
  • 14 oz string beans;
  • 1 small head of cabbage;
  • 6 medium-sized carrots;
  • 2 green bell peppers;
  • 6 tomatoes;
  • 6 onions of medium size;
  • 6.5 cups of organic tomato juice.

Preparation:

Chop the vegetables and celery root, fold into a saucepan and pour them completely with tomato juice. Boil the celery soup for 10 minutes over high heat, then another 10 minutes under the lid, but on low heat. Add parsley, dill a few minutes before the end of cooking. Ready, Bon Appetite!

Lean Meat

One of the most delicious types of products that can be eaten and at the same time successfully lose weight is lean meat. Lean meat includes chicken, turkey, and even rabbit! Protein helps the body trim weight in general. When you incorporate lean meats, while at the same time reducing the number of carbohydrates, fat cells are burned and the muscle mass is preserved. To make this product really dietary, cook it on the grill or boil. The best time to eat lean meat is lunch. This is the time when the body requires something nourishing. If it’s past dinner time and you’re still hungry, it’s permissible to eat some of these lean meats even at night.

Seafood

Seafood (shrimp, mussels, squid, etc.), are a great source of protein,  rich in vitamins (iodine, calcium, phosphorus, etc.) and minerals necessary for the body. They can be combined with a variety of vegetables, herbs, whole grain bread, fruit (except bananas).

Seafood is not much different from fish, but there is one significant difference – the protein in seafood has a more fibrous structure, and therefore it is absorbed a little slower and gives you a feeling of satiety. As a result, you do not eat as much. By the way, the Japanese are recognized on the planet as one of the most slender nations, and in fact, which could be as a result of their diet consisting mainly of fish and rice. Meat and vegetables, the Japanese use in much smaller portions.

But the remarkable quality of seafood is not in their very low caloric content but in the wonderful nutritional properties. Seafood, unlike some other animal products, contains omega-3 and omega-6 acids. They are unique, precious polyunsaturated fatty acids, enriched with the ability to reduce the level of harmful cholesterol in the blood. Omega-3 also has a proven anti-inflammatory effect, inhibiting the formation of cancer cells. Including seafood regularly in your diet, will decrease bad cholesterol.

However, seafood cannot fully replace the requirement of meat, so I recommend you to eat lean meat (chicken, turkey, rabbit), at least 1-2 times a week.

Fruits

Grapefruit – (in 1/2 cup – 29 calories) – this citrus with a bright red pulp is great for weight loss. In addition, it helps to prevent the formation and spread of cancer cells and has an antioxidant effect. The sodium contained in it increases the feeling of satiety.

Oranges (in 1/2 cup – 35 calories).  Perfect for weight loss and at the same time, one orange fruit of medium size will provide the body with a daily dose of vitamin C. It is perfectly compatible with carrot salad.

Strawberries (in 1/2 cup – 41 calories). Everyone loves this juicy, red berry. This fruit will help you reach a slim figure.

Apricots (in 1/2 cup – 44 calories). The next on the list for the most effective weight loss – apricots. These low-calorie fruits are also rich in vitamins C, A, and fiber.

Black Currant (in 1/2 cup – 44 calories). Delicious berries contain many essential elements for the human body. Eating berries during your diet will significantly improve the immune system. You’ll not only lose weight but also improve the quality of your hair!

Peaches (in 1/2 cup – 46 calories) Peaches contain a lot of nutritional value and have proven to be a healthy way to lose weight.  They are high in fiber and have high water content so they keep you full but in a good way! For weight loss, it would be effective to use them in a fresh form or freshly squeezed juices mixed with apples and carrots.

Raspberries (in 1/2 cup – 46 calories) – Raspberries have healing properties have long been known. You can brew a tea and drink it with mint or just eat fresh berries. Raspberries are great for weight loss because they contain lipolytic enzymes that burn fats perfectly.

Apples (in 1/2 cup – 47 calories). These fruits stabilize metabolism, improve digestion. They can be added to the diet every day, used together with nuts or vegetables and at the same time successfully help you lose weight.

Cherries (in 1/2 cup – 47 calories) are also included in the list of dietary berries. The maximum benefit from them will be in the morning. Arrange a cherry breakfast, replace with a handful of berries afternoon tea and lose weight!

Pineapples (in 1/2 cup –  49 calories) They have an excellent ability to break down fats. This miracle fruit is just a unique fat burner. In addition, pineapple helps to improve digestion, has a mild laxative effect. With it, your extra pounds will go away easily.

Pomegranate (in 1/2 cup – only 72 calories) Researchers are saying pomegranates have the ability to aid in weight loss based on studies that showed people drinking a liter of pomegranate juice a day experienced less hunger. Nuts

Many nutritionists believe that during weight loss nuts cannot be eaten. They are high-calorie and contain a large amount of fat. However, there is the opposite opinion that in a diet, 3-6 eaten nuts, will not bring any harm to the figure. On the contrary, they are able to overcome hunger, saturate the body with useful and rapidly digestible fats and at times reduce the chances of falling off the diet. So, nuts can be used, but with restrictions:

Almonds – 10 pc during snack;

Hazelnut – 5 pc once a day;

Walnuts – 5 pc once a day;

Peanuts – 15 pc once a day;

Cashew nut – 8 pc once a day;

Pistachios – 15 pc once a day.

You can eat them raw: no salt, sugar, icing, without butter (roasted).

Dairy products

It’s imperative to include some dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt in the diet as they are packed with essential nutrients that keep us healthy. Dairy products are one of the main sources of calcium in the diet, a mineral that helps to build strong bones as well as being good sources of protein, zinc and some B vitamins.

If we talk about the time of consumption of dairy products, it is better to consume it in the first half of the day. At this time, the body absorbs them better. Don’t eat cottage cheese at night. Although in the evening, it’s perfectly acceptable to drink kefir. Try to drink kefir occasionally in the evening and you’ll lose weight much faster. You can also sometimes even arrange fasting days when you drink only kefir, day and evening.

One egg contains ~ 78 calories

A meal of 3 eggs with vegetable salad is an example of a wonderful full-fledged in all respects dish with a calorie of about 300 calories (when frying, add ~50 calories).

This property of eggs useful for weight loss is primarily due to the fact that they contain a lot of protein, which is known to give a much greater sense of saturation, eliminating hunger for a longer time, in comparison with carbohydrates 2-4. This property is called the saturation index – an indicator of how well the food fills and reduces the desire to eat something else.   1. This is a well balance meal and the food that America should be sticking to. I never thought to just eat soup as part of my diet. Now losing weight is something very good to do for our body but we should try to over do it. If we can have a balanvce in our food we would lose weight just like that and stay in our weight. Easier said then done.

    A couple of comments. First, I was confused at first reading your recipe for celery soup. You see, celery to Americans is a tall, fibrous green vegetable with little to recommend it except as a diet aid. (It takes more energy (calories) to digest celery than the plant contains.)  I think you are referring to what we Yanks call celeriac when talking about your celery soup. 😉

    I assume you are writing from the UK. Perhaps the problem of persistent poisoning of the soil, air and water we have here in the US from factory farming is not an issue. Here, standard agricultural practices result in all non-organic meat and produce introducing petrochemicals and hormone disrupters into our diet–making it almost impossible to lose weight without going all organic. 

    As a nurse practitioner who independently studies nutrition, I just can’t see any way to lose weight eating a standard American diet. It’s no longer calories in and calories out because our food affects our hormones which affect our feelings of hunger and how our bodies store fat. We will never solve the obesity problem until we have laws that actually protect consumers from companies who think only of short term profitability.

      No, I’m from Philadelphia but was born in Republic Of Georgia and of course here in US we don’t have pollution like in Europe or Asia but still pollution is everywhere. You cannot escaped it. If you take a drive in Newark NJ
      you will see size of air pollution and this is a sad reality.
      I absolutely agree with you on subject of impossibility to loose weight consuming products from our supermarkets.
      It is horrible what these companies make us eat. But we all know money rules the world that’s why pharma and produce companies ruin our lives for more profit.

  6. I love the celery soup recipe you have here. I always find it hard to consume enough varieties of vegetable at one go so I would love to have a meal that is packed with mixture of greens. So happens, celery, bell pepper and onions are my favorite. I wonder if there’s a way I could meal pack these things for several portions and just reheat instead of cooking them all the time…
